Now that 2016 is officially behind us, I thought it would beneficial to go ahead and lay out what I want to see happen in this coming year. If you're interested in the seven things I'm hoping to see in 2017 continue reading!
1. Peace between Democrats and Republicans
It's sad that I even have to ask for this. Despite being a staunch Democrat within my family I don't want a recount or a reversal of the presidential results instead, I want peace between the two parties. Yes, I understand the things that Donald Trump has said many unsavory and done many unforgivable things, but I have finally reached a place where I am willing to give him in a clean slate this new year.
2. Continued Success in High School
Even though I am usually one of the last people to say that school is hard, I am totally willing to admit that staying motivated is hard even for "good students". As a sophomore looking forward to my junior year (and driver's license) it's hard to stay committed to my studies. Despite the fact that I make good grades, sometimes it's hard to see the finish line, especially when I am currently juggling the thought of what I want to study in college. Which brings me to the next thing I am wishing for.
3. Wisdom on the Type of Career I would like to Pursue
I'm sure most people reading this are rolling their eyes. I mean how could a high schooler possibly know what they want to do after school? Especially when they still have another 4 years at the least or 8 years at the most, of additional schooling before entering the workforce. Despite what you may think, I have actually concluded that I would want to be either a broadcast journalist, lawyer, or neurologist. Now I am just wishing for the wisdom and foresight to see which career I'd actually be willing to go about pursuing.
4. An Increased YouTube Audience
5. More Sleep!
This may sound like more of a new year's resolution, but I realized towards the end of the past year that I am generally a better person when I have at least 9 hours of sleep.

Nice post, I want more sleep too!

Thanks Katherine! Hope this new year brings more sleep for the both of us! :)
DeleteMore sleep is the best part!
ReplyDeleteHaha I agree!
DeleteI most definitely agree with #1, and I think everyone needs more sleep! Good luck in your classes at high school this year and with deciding your major. :)

Thank you so much! Happy you enjoyed my post. :)
DeleteOh my gosh, I really enjoyed this post! Aaaah, so refreshing, I can actually hear your voice through the words. I don't know, a junior with her own awesome looking blog, plus a youtube channel-- it seems as if you already know what you want to do ;) (yah yah, I know, you need to make money and stuff). But you never know what will happen in the future. Oh gosh, peace between democrats and republicans. Now that is a biggie. I look forward to that day as well, but honestly, I'm quite impressed with the stance you are giving trump. A lot of foolish college kids (and not college kids--meaning adults) seem to think its acceptable behavior to taut violence, shame, and emotional unrest as a way of protesting Trump's entry into the Whitehouse. But that is simply perpetuating the standards that those same people seem to think Trump stands for. Ugh, People give me a headache. Well then, peace it is.

Exactly! I'm so happy that you agree. Even though it was a very messy (and at times quite upsetting campaign), it is time to actually "agree to disagree". I feel like this all boils down to tolerance which truly is a two road street. Even though I don't agree with all f Trump's policies I have to understand that he will be our next president and give him the chance to make his own legacy. Thank you for such an encouraging comment! :)
DeleteGood luck on your goals! More sleep will help achieve them too! :)

DeleteOh man, still so young! Enjoy it while it lasts haha - getting a part time job will be a great step in moving forward, in the future it's great to have on your resume as well. It shows that you know work ethic (though you sound pretty smart anyway!)
ReplyDeleteMore sleep is a biggie, I think we should have mandatory siestas.

Thank you so much! I really need to force myself to go to bed before midnight, but it's so hard to tamp down my inner "night owl" haha. Hope we both reach our sleeping goals this year! :)
DeleteI think it's very sensible to know what you want to do in the future at a young age. I was in high school when I decided what I want to study in college and take on as a career path, so good on you! Sleep is something I definitely wish for, too, haha.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful 2017, and may all your wishes come true! x

DeleteGreat list! Looks like you have a lot planned for 2017.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part is the sleeping one. Getting extra sleep is a must! :)
Thanks so much Jennifer. I totally agree!!
DeleteThis is a pretty damn good wishlist! Thinking about the future is always terrifying and confusing - I'm just starting my PhD but still have anxiety attacks when I think about what comes next (Brexit isn't helping matters pahaha). Never listened to Lecrae before, very intrigued now, will give them a listen :) xxx
ReplyDeleteLucy @ La Lingua | Life, Travel, Italy
Yea!! I love Lecrae (recommend starting with his Anomaly album then looking at his newer stuff before going to his older albums.). What subject degree are you getting your doctorate in? Definitely hoping you have a great transition this year into your doctorate program! :)

DeleteI think the US has to come together and unify as a country in general, it's not so much between two political parties anymore, it's the people. I don't think I've seen Americans as divided as this ever. :-(
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I agree! I feel like it has exceeded the superficial "political party" view and has suddenly become more of a morality issue. Are you okay with tolerating the other side's point of views. Intolerance really doesn't help us progress as a nation.
DeleteThese sound great and I can definitely relate to more than one! Thank you for sharing :)

Thanks Nikoletta! Glad you could relate, hope you will enjoy some of my upcoming posts!
DeleteI love the fact you mentioned the politics! You not only wish for good things for yourself but also look out for everybody else. And we sure do need peace in this country!

Thanks Paulina! I really do believe that for us to go ahead as a stronger country we have to not only unify, but be tolerant of each others views. :)
DeleteYes yes yes to more sleep! Happy New Year! xx

I totally agree Jasmine!
DeleteI hope 2017 brings you what you wish for. And it is never too early to make up your mind about career goals, as long as you still allow yourself to change the plan if you feel needed.
