college tour 02| Duke University

This is part two of my college tour series! (Can you believe I followed through with a series?) While my family was in North Carolina we decided to visit both Duke and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Earlier this week I talked about my visit to Chapel hill, but now it's time for me to write about my Duke experience. If you're interested in that post check it out here.

In honor of my own school's college tour I decided to go ahead and blog about the schools that I visited this past summer. I do apologize in advance for the slightly random content, but this is what I wanted to show on my blog. :)

I visited 5ish colleges this past summer and found something enjoyable in each and everyone of them. My family decided to take a road trip from Alabama to D.C. and decided to stop at various colleges for my own viewing pleasure. Hope you enjoy the insight I learned from visiting each of these colleges and the "insiders advice" I give from meeting with college advisers on their campuses. With out further ado let's get started.

Duke University

Sadly we spent little time at Duke University, but I still managed to get a few pictures of the campus.
This campus was "ivy overload" meaning that practically all of the buildings were covered in ivy which is not a bad thing, but just something to think about.
The campus was also very shaded by trees making the campus seem very secluded from the city center it was located in.
The obvious standout on the campus was the magnificent Duke Chapel designed by a prominent African American architect, Julian Abele. The attention to detail is seriously impeccable and can not be described by words alone.
My family was blessed to get a "behind-the-scenes" tour of the whole set up by the man in charge of it all [who for all intents and purposes will stay unnamed for privacy purposes]. Not only did I get to see behind the gates, but I got "up close and personal" with each of the Dukes' remains. There are really no words I can use to describe this experience, but that's why I took pictures.
If you want to see a first person view of the Chapel's inside check out the clip below. Sorry it's in portrait view, but I didn't intend to post this haha.

Since I had so many pictures I decided to combine them all create a small slideshow for you guys. Hope you enjoy. :)

  7. These look lovely! Picking the right college can be so difficult! I remember the struggle before I started university here in the UK, you are only allowed to apply to 3 so it was pretty tough! In the end, I just went with the best location, and thankfully have no regrets! Thanks for sharing, hun. <3 xoxo

    1. Oh wow! I totally agree picking the right fit is super hard, but I couldn't even imagine having to be limited in choosing just three schools. That had to be super tough!
